Biography
Inner Surge is a an intense politically charged metal/rock band from Calgary, Canada. The band has been described as "one of the best imports that Canada has to offer" by RWS Magazine. With an eclectic, aggressive approach, the band fuses metal, rock, punk, hardcore and progressive influences. As opposed to conforming to the 'meathead' mentality of heavy music today, Inner Surge's energy is focused on breaking those stereotypes down, and pushing boundaries, both lyrically and musically.

The band was formed in 2001 by Steve Moore, who wrote and recorded the debut album "Solus Verum". The next album "Matrika", was released to excellent reviews. Space Junkies Magazine gave it 10+ out of 10, while Bands United described it as "Disturbingly fresh". Inner Surge's "Matrika" also made Punkcanada.net's "Top 10 of 2004" list and was re-released in 2006 by Cyclone Records.

Inner Surge was featured in the new book by Garry Sharpe-Young "New Wave of American Heavy Metal" alongside Dillinger Escape Plan, Mastodon, and Norma Jean. Additionally the band will be featured on the official movie soundtrack for the upcoming feature film "Cabras". The director, Fredy Polania, who also directed the band's "Retribution Song" video, describes Inner Surge as "the next Rage against the Machine". Information on the film is at www.cabrassoundtrack.com. Inner Surge's music will also appear on the Macabro Films movie soundtrack for the psychological thriller "Amok!", due for release in 2007. Inner Surge is also featured on the Paladin Pictures film score for "Rebellion of Thought".

Inner Surge's music video for "Retribution Song" explores the band's political views and was partially inspired by the largely ignored Uzbekistan massacre as well as the Zapatista's(EZLN), a group of revolutionaries whom Inner Surge are supporters of. The video is available online for download. The band's second music video for "Wolves" was directed by Shaun Friesen of Free Zen Design. A radical departure from the "Retribution Song" music video, the video focuses on artwork to send a political message, with the band taking a backseat. The subject matter of the song and video deals with the events leading to and during the 1994 Rwandan genocide, when militia groups and ordinary civilians were encouraged to "cut the tall trees" and murder Tutsis and moderate Hutu's. The video for "Wolves" can be downloaded at the "Wolves" official site at www.freezen.ca/Wolves.

Inner Surge's newest album is the critically acclaimed and groundbreaking "Signals Screaming", an 11 track assault on human rights abuses and what the band sees as the international "blind eye". Released April 1 2006 through Cyclone Records, the album has been well received by both fans and music critics. "Signals Screaming" is being hailed as "one of the most essential metal albums of the year" from "one of Canada's most promising and most modern-sounding metal bands out there today." The lyrics cover themes such as the 1994 Rwandan genocide in "Wolves", the massacre of peaceful protesters in Uzbekistan in 2005 in "Retribution Song", and the repression of the FDA in "No Profit in the Cure". Canadanoise.com says "Signals Screaming is a battering-ram of an album that is impressive and powerful, both in sound and in message. Delivered through a screaming fury along with sung words that are weighted with disdain, the force of its lyrics is impossible to shut out."

The band's fanbase has been growing rapidly, and they are embracing more projects in 2007/2008. Inner Surge is currently preparing for the release of their upcoming CD entitled "An Offering".
